01. Office Name :-

Office of the Upazila Food Controller, Sonaimuri, Noakhali.

2. Office Contact:-

Each Upazila has an Upazila Food Controller office. The office is managed under the Department of Food under the Ministry of Food and controlled by the District Food Controller.

3. Manpower structure of the office:-

  Designation of Head of Office - Upazila Food Controller, 01 (one) Food Inspector, 01 (one) Deputy Food Inspector to assist him. 01 (one) person with office, and 01 (one) part-time sweeper.

4. Offices under :-

There are 03 (three) local warehouses of 1000 Me:ton 01 (one) t, 15.000 Me:ton 01 (one) t, and 500 Me:ton 01 (one) t (abandoned) under Upazila Food Controller. 01 (one) food inspector and officer-in-charge are engaged in the warehouse. To assist him, there is 01 (one) Deputy Food Inspector. 01 (one) staff with office, and 07 (seven) security guards. 01 (one) cleaning staff. 01 (one) part-time sweeper. Food security and emergency stockpiling are being carried out.

5. Office Activities:-

The upazila food controller under the Ministry of Food of the People's Republic of Bangladesh collected rice from the local rice mill owners and paddy from the farmers: provision of food security by storing food in warehouses. Moreover:-

(a) Distribution of food grains for all developmental works. For example:-

1. Food in exchange for work (Kabikha).

2. Test Relief (TR)

3. VGF

4. VGD

5. G. And

6. Issuance of DO along with clearance in fire service etc.

(b) Payment of ration at nominal price to Class 4 employees working in Government service.

(c) Management of O.M.S.

(d) Implementation of fair price foodgrain distribution program for the poor.

(e) Submitting reports to higher authorities on daily market prices of various commodities. And

(f) And implementing various activities in coordination with the upazila executive officer and other upazila officers and local dignitaries including chairman of the union parishad, by providing food grain license to wholesale/retail food grain traders and mill license to rice mill owners. Carrying out various electoral duties.
